You don't have to keep carrying this alone.

Private therapy with Shanna Wilder, M.A., LPC-s, chst — in person in mckinney & Plano, TX and virtually anywhere.

What you can expect

  • Honest

I will tell you the truth even when it's uncomfortable - because that's what actually creates change. No vague reflections, no talking in circles. Just real, direct conversation.

  • Solution-focused

Every session has a purpose and a direction. You'll leave with tools, frameworks, and clarity - not just feelings. We're here to actually fix things, not just discuss them.

  • Judgment-free

Whatever you bring into this space - I've heard something like it before and I will not flinch. This is a kink-aware, LGBTQIA+ affirming, non-monogamy inclusive practice. All of it is welcome here.

1Private therapy

A man and woman sitting on the floor of a living room, leaning against a sofa, looking at each other. The woman has curly hair in a bun and is wearing a brown shirt and jeans. The man has short dark hair and is wearing a checkered shirt over a white T-shirt. There is a laptop on their lap, and a blanket is on the floor in front of them. The background shows a sofa, a lamp, and a patterned wall.

Virtual sessions

Life is busy and geography shouldn't be a barrier to good therapy. Virtual sessions work beautifully for individuals and couples — especially those with demanding schedules, frequent travel, or partners in different locations. All you need is a private space and good wifi.

Available anywhere. Same quality, same Shanna.

"The problems you're facing are completely normal — but we have to agree to work on the problem together. Neither one of you is the problem."

— Shanna Wilder

Common questions

  • Sex therapy is talk therapy - nobody takes their clothes off and nothing physical happens in session. We talk about the things most people can't talk about anywhere else: desire, intimacy, shame, trauma, and sexuality. I use a combination of education, skills-based work, and deeper therapeutic exploration depending on what you need.

  • Both. I work with individuals and couples at all stages - whether you're coming together to work on your relationship, or coming alone to work on yourself. Some clients start individually and bring their partner in later. There's no wrong way to start.

  • Yes - I currently accept Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, United Healthcare, Cigna, Quest, and Carelon Behavioral Health. I also work with private pay clients. Don't see your insurance? Reach out anyway - I'm happy to discuss superbills for out-of-network reimbursement.

  • Honestly, not much. The therapeutic work is the same quality either way. In-person sessions are available in McKinney and Plano, TX. Virtual sessions are available anywhere you have a private space and good wifi. Many clients actually prefer virtual for the convenience and flexibility.
